"I will maintain control of Vinik Sports Group and nothing will change with respect to the daily operations and objectives of the Tampa Bay Lightning," Vinik said.
Naturally fans are uneasy because the team was sold shortly after their first Stanley Cup win back in the early 2000's and the team spiraled out of control for years until Vinik purchased the team
Vinik says once the sale completes he will have more to comment on.
Since taking over, the Lightning have risen to the top of the NHL, winning back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships.
